O Festival Centro em Cena foi retomado, em 2023, após um hiato de 15 anos, pela Prefeitura de João Pessoa e sua Fundação Cultural (Funjope), com uma programação diversificada. A abertura, no Parque Solon de Lucena, teve uma apresentação conjunta reunindo a Junina Lageiro Seco, a Companhia Municipal de Dança de João Pessoa, a Orquestra Sinfônica Municipal e o bailarino Carlinhos de Jesus que acompanharam a cantora Alcione numa noite que se tornou inesquecível.
“Foi uma felicidade muito grande para todos nós que fazemos a Funjope retomar o Centro em Cena, um projeto que já estava consolidado no imaginário da população de João Pessoa. A comunidade de artistas, de uma maneira geral, aguardava o retorno do Centro em Cena e o público também”, destaca o diretor executivo da Funjope, Marcus Alves.
Este ano, conforme ressalta, foram seis dias de festival com presenças marcantes, tanto da cultura local como da nacional. “Garantimos, desse modo, a realização de mais um compromisso de campanha do nosso prefeito Cícero Lucena”, frisa o diretor.
Ele comenta ainda que o Centro em Cena é uma ação artístico cultural que está forte e presente na vida da cidade de João Pessoa. “Deveremos, inclusive, realizar mais festivais dessa natureza em 2024. Estamos programando novamente o Centro em Cena porque, realmente, a cidade merece, e é uma grande e importante ação para todos nós”, afirmou Marcus Alves.
O evento – Ao longo de seis dias, o festival, que contou com o apoio do Governo da Paraíba, teve mostra literária no Centro Cultural São Francisco, com a participação da renomada atriz paraibana Zezita Mattos e de Carlito Campos. Foram realizadas feiras de cordel e de livros. Teve também apresentação da Companhia Bigorna de Teatro que fez uma homenagem aos 80 anos do escritor Fernando Teixeira.
O evento contou com a participação do grupo Cabruêra, banda Electro Bromance e o grupo Família Los Iranzi, na Casa da Pólvora. A programação envolveu também exposições por lá, a mostra ‘Encontro’, do artista visual Babá Santana, exibiu obras feitas de papel. Já no Hotel Globo, aconteceu a exposição ‘Temporis’, do artista visual Alberto Lacet, que reuniu 40 obras.
Teve também espetáculo teatral. A peça ‘A Vela’, protagonizada pelos atores Herson Capri e Leandro Lima, atraiu um grande público. Durante os dois dias de encenação gratuita para o público no Teatro Santa Roza, o espaço ficou lotado e, quem prestigiou a peça, pode participar de um bate papo com os atores. Também no Teatro Santa Roza, teve apresentação da Companhia Municipal de Dança, do Coletivo Tribo Ethnos, da Curitiba Companhia de Dança e do Ballet do Teatro Guaíra de Curitiba (PR).
Mas, o Centro em Cena não parou por aí. Pelas ruas do Centro Histórico, teve cortejo com o grupo ‘As Calungas’, saindo da Casa da Pólvora até Largo da Igreja de São Frei Pedro Gonçalves. Por lá, também aconteceu apresentação de arte circense. Tudo isso, sem contar o workshop com Guegué Medeiros e Salomão Soares, no Hotel Globo, e com o festival de performances artísticas, na Casa da Pólvora.
