Hoje, com o espírito de menino sonhador entristecido, recebi a lastimável notícia da morte do cartunista Ziraldo. Mineiro de Caratinga, nosso eterno Menino Maluquinho partiu neste sábado (6/4), aos 91 anos, enquanto dormia em casa, em seu apartamento no Rio de Janeiro. O desenhista e cartunista deixa três filhos e um legado incomensurável para a literatura infanto-juvenil brasileira.
Além de cartunista, escritor, desenhista, chargista e jornalista, Ziraldo marcou o imaginário brasileiro também como poeta, dramaturgo, cronista e pintor. Mas foi com uma obra direcionada sobretudo para as crianças que o mineiro fez história.
É criador de alguns dos personagens mais importantes da literatura brasileira, como o “Menino Maluquinho”, obra inspirada em um de seus filhos e adaptada com enorme sucesso para a televisão, além da famosa “Turma do Pererê”, que homenageia um dos maiores símbolos do folclore nacional. Sua obra é vencedora do Prêmio Nobel Internacional de Humor e do Prêmio Jabuti.
Ziraldo passou toda a infância em Caratinga e, nos anos 1950, se estabeleceu definitivamente no Rio de Janeiro. Artista precoce, aos 7 anos publicou o seu primeiro desenho no jornal “Folha de Minas”, em 1939, e seguiu produzindo ilustrações, charges e livros infanto-juvenis até 2018, quando interrompeu as atividades de trabalho após sofrer um acidente vascular cerebral.
O artista mineiro também é um dos fundadores do jornal “O Pasquim”, dos principais veículos jornalísticos brasileiros nos anos 1970, e colaborador de inúmeras publicações, como a revista “O Cruzeiro” e o “Jornal do Brasil”.
